Biography

Since 1986 Piero De Sabbata has been working in the Innovation Department of ENEA (the Italian national agency for environment, energy and new technologies); he has participated in research and technology transfer projects dealing with interoperability and data exchange in 'traditional' sectors like Tiles and Textile-Clothing and is the scientific coordinator of the X-Lab structure of ENEA UDA-PMI and FTI.

Since 2004 he participates to the European integrated project LeapFrog IP, integrated project addressed to Textile/Clothing industry (FP6-priority NMP), both  led by Euratex, with a specific task in the responsibility in defining a collaborative framework supporting innovative organisation of the T/C industry.

He had been the project manager of projects like ISHTAR (support for made-to-measure apparel production and sales, spring.bologna.enea.it/Ishtar) and Moda-ML (project aiming to create and experience XML documents for the textile - clothing sector in the framework of an ebXML architecture; www.moda-ml.org).

Recently chaired the standardisation CEN/ISSS workshops Tex-Spin ("Textile Supply Chain Integrated Network") and TexWeave ("Standardisation and Interoperability in the Textile Supply Chain Integrated Networks", www.texweave.org), promoted by Euratex (European Apparel and Textile Industry Association) in the framework of CEN/ISSS (European Committee for Standardisation/Information Society Standardisation System); the initiatives aim to provide the Textile/Clothing sector with an open pre-normative platform for electronic data interchange based on XML documents.

He participated also the CEN/ISSS eBusiness Standards Focus Group and the CEN/ISSS eBusiness Interoperability Forum.

Since February 2007 he is member of the Special Interest Group "Enterprise Interoperability" of the IFIP Technical Committee 5 "IT Applications".
