Biography
Over the past 18 years, I have been involved in numerous basic and applied research activities in the broad area of decentralized co-ordination and, in particular, decentral concepts, IT architecture, and methods for business information systems. My work includes technologies for enterprise interoperability, model-driven business process engineering and automation, as well as agent technology, peer-to-peer and grid computing: different areas of information systems.
My specific interest lies in investigating the application of decentral, self-organizing techniques in various business domains, such as Supply Network Management, Distributed Energy Management, and Product Lifecycle Management. I have actively participated in the initiation and/or implementation of several large national and international research projects, including ATHENA (FP6, IST-2004-507849), ILIPT (Five-day car,
www.ilipt.org), LEAP (FP5, IST-1999-10211), and the German projects VESUV (www.vesuv-projekt.de) and MAP (Multimedia workplace of the Future, www.map21.de).
